Advanced Fellowship in Orthodontics Examination Board Chair

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow are working together to introduce an Intercollegiate approach to Specialty Curricula assessment. There is now an opportunity to develop the curriculum and assessment for an Advanced Fellowship in Orthodontics. The new examination will start in 2028, and the Exam Board Chair will be asked to play an important role in developing these and work with the team supporting the new exam.

We are therefore looking for an Examination Board Chair for the Advanced Fellowship in Orthodontics and invite applications for this role starting in February 2026. If you have any questions either about the application process or the requirements of the role, please contact the team at examboardchair@dsfe.org.uk before submitting your application.

Examiners for the tri-collegiate (RCSEd, RCS Eng, RCPSG) MFDS and Dental Specialty Fellowship Examinations

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the Royal College of Surgeons of England have introduced a tri-collegiate approach to curricula assessment for the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) and Dental Specialty Fellowship Examinations.

An initial phase of recruitment for examiners to the panel was concluded in 2025 and the appointed examiners will help with the development of the examination. If you practice in the United Kingdom or Ireland and would like to apply to be on the examiner panel, please use this form.

Applications for both positions are being accepted on an ongoing basis. Applications will be reviewed as opportunities become available on the panels, and you will be placed on the waiting list for review by the Exam Board Chair.

We welcome and encourage applications from those currently practising in the UK or Ireland who wish to join our examiner waiting list.

If you practice outside of the UK or Ireland, applications will open closer to the point at which international exams will start, and we anticipate this will be towards the end of 2026. We encourage you to check this page for updates.

If you are currently an examiner for MFDS or a dental specialty and wish to continue when the existing exam arrangements end, we will share the details for this transition closer to the time.

Role descriptions for both positions are below. Please read these fully if you wish to apply for both positions as eligibility requirements vary slightly.

If you applied before 15 December 2025 there is no need to reapply; we have received your application with thanks and will be in touch as soon as possible.

If you have any questions either about the application process or the requirements of the role, please contact the team at examboardchair@dsfe.org.uk before submitting your application.

Applications can be made here. Please ensure that you also send your CV to examboardchair@dsfe.org.uk for review.
